Impact of the Industrial Revolution

1. Urbanization- movement of people to cities- move out of countryside
2.  Growth of cities
3.  Population growth of Europe
4. Factory Work was based on profit ( making money)- business not regualted by anyone
5. Overcrowding, poor sanitation, disease, trash waste in streets 
6. Pollution- water, air 
7. Growth of the middle class- women could stay at home and take care of families, kids went to schools
8.  Working conditions in Factories- long hours (12-16 hr days, 6 days a week, hot, loud, dangerous machines)
9. Workers did not have "sick" days when injured, hurt
10. Labor and trade unions were formed to help workers
11.  Laws were passed in 1800's to protect workers
12. Machine based society
13.  Only the rich had power to vote- change was difficult
