Read quote from novel TIme Machine- by HG Wells (The Time Traveller journeys 800,000 years into the future and discovers two bizarre races at war on the Earth, the ethereal Eloi and the subterranean Morlocks) and discuss meaning:

- Which movie time period was realistic?
- What did you learn about life in 1955?
- If you could be a time traveler, what materials would you use to make a time machine?
- If you could transport yourself to anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
- What one item would you take with you if you could travel back in time?
- Have students combine all items that they would take and in small groups discuss the following: What are some possible uses for these items?
- After discussion is complete, ask students if they would like to “change” any items they brought with them.
